There should be a law
Not only do I have school tomorrow, but I have an econ quiz. Not only is tomorrow Labor Day but it's also only the second week of class.
Yesterday was the first day in Ithaca I've worn a sweatshirt. The weather has gone from hot and muggy to just muggy and now to cold. In three weeks.
I seem to have lost all my momentum writing here. I'll try to shake things up this week and start writing regularly.

Who could have guessed that
Who could have guessed that Cornell has such an active beach scene? The second-year students keep telling me it will start to snow in two weeks. That's hard to believe right now. It's beautiful.

As of 6:30 am the power is back on here in Ithaca. I'm really glad we're not in NYC right now - my commute home yesterday consisted only of a five minute bus ride.
I find it hard to believe that nobody knows the real cause.

New contact info
Here's my new address for all those stalkers out there. I wish all my credit cards, magazines, etc. could pick this automatically somehow.
325 West Seneca St. # 2
Ithaca, NY 14850
My new cell phone # is (607) 262-0584. I'll cancel the old 415 number soon.

"Email is for old people"
The author of Due Diligence quotes a young cousin who's moved on to IM and (I assume) a cell phone.
It's true. Email sucks and I'm getting tired of it. Mine is over 60% spam right now which is a pain even with a filter. Between that and my own outgoing mail being tagged by other people's spam filters email has really lost it's allure.
The only thing holding IM back is incompatibility between systems. Nobody wants to sign up and manage ICQ, AOL, Yahoo, MSN, etc. but we all have friend or contacts on all those networks. I'm wondering if my school has standardized on any IM platform.

Hello from Ithaca
I guess it's a good time to be leaving California.
We've been at the house in Ithaca for a few days now. Things have been way too busy for tingleff.com updates but I finally have a few minutes.
We're in the top floor of an old house downtown. When the Road Runner techs came over to setup high-speed internet they said all the houses around here are 'older than dirt'. This one definitely is. The shower has horrible water pressure, the interior needs a paint job and there's no window out to the deck. But we're starting to like it a lot.
School starts tomorrow.

Greetings from Rapid City, South Dakota
Yellowstone rules. Mount Rainer and the Grand Tetons are pretty cool too.
NPR is the best. Send them money please, I think they've saved our lives a few times already.
And if you're ever driving through Byron, Wyoming, don't go faster than 30 mph.
